May 2009 - 1st June 2009 - Launch date for v2 Project Griffin Training Package

Since the launch of the e-learning Project Griffin Refresher Package in November 2007, the Project Griffin team have received a huge amount of positive feedback on how well this project has been received in keeping people updated and linked in with Project Griffin.

As a result of its success the team have now developed version 2 which will be launched on Monday 1st June, 2009.  The current five modules on Person Borne Explosive, Hostile Reconnaissance, Suspect Vehicle, Suspect Person and Crime Scene Management have all been reviewed and updated (new video added).  We have also developed two new modules which will be available in version 2:- First Onsite Responder (first Aid) and CBRN.  There is further development work being undertaken on Search (People/vehicle/property) which we also hope to add in due course.

The new version will also look slightly different.  It has a more professional feel and navigation system.  Centre administrators will be able to determine which modules are appropriate for each user, so that the learning can be tailored to meet individual needs.

The package aims to provide people who have already been through a Project Griffin Awareness Day, with refresher training on key police messages.  Its aim is to refresh people on what to consider and what action to take in certain situations, giving everyone the confidence to report any suspicious activity and behaviour to the police, bringing them into the wider ‘police family’.  After all the police accept that they can’t solve things by themselves they need the support and help of everyone in the community.

People working and living in the community have a feel for when something isn’t quite right, feeling empowered to report that is what the project aims to achieve.
